Honeycomb integration: traces and SLOs in team chat

Connect Honeycomb to Ando so agents can query traces, check triggers and SLOs, and say whether a service is healthy, with read-only access.

What agents can do in Honeycomb

With a Honeycomb connection, an agent that Ando runs can query traces and spans, read trigger configuration and status, read SLO definitions and their current burn and status, and read the datasets and columns available to query. It can answer whether a service breached its latency SLO in the last hour without someone building the query first. The tools are served by Honeycomb.

Read-only access

The tools read data and alerting state. An agent cannot change triggers, SLOs, or other alerting configuration through this connection.

Connecting Honeycomb

Open Studio, then Apps, then Honeycomb, and start a connection. Choose whether it belongs to the workspace or to you, approve access in Honeycomb, then give the agent access to the connection. For a personal connection, use the agent's Access tab. Honeycomb Intelligence has to be enabled for the account. Teams on Honeycomb's EU region add mcp.eu1.honeycomb.io as a custom app in Studio instead.

In a conversation

When an alert or a slow-page report comes up in a channel, mention the agent in that thread and ask it to query the traces for the service and time window in question. It reports what it found next to the message that raised it.

What kind of integration this is

Honeycomb is an app connection: agents that Ando runs use it through tools, within the access the connected account allows.

Can an agent change our Honeycomb alerts?

No. The Honeycomb tools read traces, triggers, SLOs, and datasets. They do not change alerting configuration.
