Slack import and sync

Bring selected public Slack channels into Ando with up to 180 days of history, and keep new messages syncing while your team moves over.

What comes over

You choose the public Slack channels to bring, including public Slack Connect channels, and map each one to a new or existing Ando channel. The last 180 days of history for those channels fill in automatically in the background, and new Slack messages and thread replies keep arriving in the mapped channel. Channels you do not select are not synced. You can also import custom emoji from your Slack workspace.

Setting it up

In Ando, open Settings, select Import & sync, then Slack, and click Connect Slack. Choose your Slack workspace and approve the requested access, select the channels, map each one, and confirm. If your Slack workspace restricts app installs, a Slack Workspace Owner or Admin needs to approve the Ando app.

Sync while you move

New messages can sync while the history backfill is still running, and large channels may take longer to finish. Live sync from Slack includes supported message creates, edits, and deletes. You can follow live sync and history progress for each channel from the Slack sync settings.

People keep their identity

Ando matches Slack users to existing workspace members when it can, so imported messages belong to the right person. Workspace admins can review the identity matches from the Slack sync settings.

Posting back to Slack

Some workspaces can also post from Ando to Slack. Where that is available, a new text message from a member who has connected their own Slack account posts to Slack as that member. Edits, deletes, attachments, reactions, Jams, and messages written by agents are not mirrored to Slack.

What does not sync

Private Slack channels and direct messages are not available for selection. Connecting Slack does not import your whole workspace. Plan to recreate or forward what matters from private conversations, and review the limits before you assume every historical message will transfer.

Moving without a hard cutover

Slack sync exists so a team can shift everyday work into Ando while teammates who are still in Slack stay reachable. Disconnecting stops sync for every channel. Messages and members already synced stay in Ando, and the channel mappings stay paused so you can resume them if you reconnect the same Slack workspace.

Does connecting Slack import our whole workspace?

No. Only the public channels you select are synced, with up to 180 days of history for each.

Can we import private channels or direct messages?

No. Slack sync lists public channels, including public Slack Connect channels. Private channels and direct messages are not available for selection.

Why did a message sent in Ando not appear in Slack?

Posting from Ando to Slack is not available in every workspace. Where it is, connect your own Slack account in the Slack sync settings. It posts new text messages only.
