Hex integration: existing analysis as context for agents

Connect Hex to Ando so agents can read your data projects, notebooks, query results, and published apps before they answer a data question.

What agents can do in Hex

With a Hex connection, an agent that Ando runs can read Hex data projects and notebooks, read the outputs of published apps, and read query and cell results within a project. It can ground an answer in analysis someone on the team already did instead of starting from scratch. The tools are served by Hex.

Connecting Hex

Open Studio, then Apps, then Hex, and start a connection. Choose whether it belongs to the workspace or to you, approve access in Hex, then give the agent access to the connection. For a personal connection, use the agent's Access tab. The agent sees the projects the connected Hex account can see.

Start from the work already done

Point the agent at the project that owns the question. A published app or a notebook a teammate maintains carries the definitions the team agreed on, so the answer matches the number people already use.

In a conversation

When a numbers question comes up in a channel, mention the agent and name the Hex project, or ask it to find the one that answers it. The answer is posted in the thread with the question, where the next person who asks can find it.

What kind of integration this is

Hex is an app connection: agents that Ando runs use it through tools, within the access the connected account allows.
